Faux Negroni
For the past few months, I’ve been drinking Cheeky Negronis. Gin, Aperol and Lillet combine to make a light, refreshing drink that pays homage to the classic.
But now, as school get back in session (yes, school starts in August here in Florida) I want to take it one step closer to the classic Negroni. Campari is still too much for my taste, but substituting Aperol and returning to sweet vermouth moves this drink up a few notches in complexity, pushes up the bitter orange flavors, and makes for a delicious “faux” Negroni.
- 1 oz gin
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
- 1 oz Aperol
- citrus twist for garnish (optional)
Fill your glass 2/3 full of ice, add the gin, sweet vermouth and Aperol and stir. Garnish with citrus twist and enjoy!
